PrintCentre UK has announced it is to sponsor Time Attack 2008 racing car driver, Damon Gray for this year’s “invitation only” time trials now underway and taking place at world renowned race circuits throughout the UK.

The Japanese inspired race against the clock attracts some of the fastest professional and club drivers in the UK featuring race tuned street cars driven by the fast and the furious competing over a six month period to gain the best in the business crown.

Round 1 of the 2008 competition began in April with Damon achieving fifth position in the normally aspirated club class. By round 3 at Silverstone on June 1st Damon continued to show impressive form, bag points and remain a main contender for the adrenalin rush race that originally began as an underground street sport.

Today, Time Attack is a circuit based event whereby competitors drive hard against the clock to set the quickest lap time around a circuit. Not only do they have the task of doing this but they are one of 105 cars and drivers, specifically invited with the pedigree to fight it out alongside the industry’s finest, even including some belonging to private individuals like Damon who races in a highly tuned and race modified BMW M3EV0.

Commenting on the sponsorship deal, PrintCentre UK, Director of UK Operations, Simon Rigby said that like Damon, PrintCentre UK also thrived on a “need for speed!”

“When we first opened the UK office for PrintCentre Eesti AS, we wanted a way of emphasising to our customers that although we manufactured in mainland Europe we can turn round quality and deliver in the same time as any UK competitor – what better way than sponsoring a race against the clock?”

“What’s more, if we come up against a really tight deadline we now have just the man to make sure we keep our delivery promise.”

Starting off in Japan, Time Attack, Super Lap and Tuner Battles were organised by the media as a proving ground to see the difference between street tuned cars, produced by the tuning industry’s most respected tuners.

Held at various circuits in Japan although mainly Tsukuba, Time Attack rose in popularity as the stakes began to rise and the tuners had to keep on developing new and improved machines with which to conquer their competitors on track. Since the early days things have moved on and there are now different levels of vehicles entering the competitions, from road cars to full-on specifically engineered Time Attack cars made mostly of carbon fibre as the sport has evolved.
Drivers normally consist of the racing industries finest, drafted-in by tuners to pilot these unlimited machines in the bid to become the quickest.
You can follow Damon’s progress by logging onto the Time Attack website www.timeattack.co.uk. We will also be keeping you up to date with regular postings on the PrintCentre UK website. The final points score will be realised at the Snetterton Circuit on October 12th.
