VIVA Beverages, a US drinks company, has appointed PrintCentre UK to produce in-store point of sale for the launch of its single-shot energy drink - "Quick Energy TM." VIVA is creating a new category in the UK drinks sector, investing ÂŁ2m into the launch.

The drink, which comes in 59ml bottles, works faster and lasts longer than typical energy drinks. It is being positioned as a "more convenient" energy drink for people with busy lives. It is currently available in independent retailers nationwide and will be expanding into national convenience store, forecourt and supermarket chains from Spring 2009.

PrintCentre UK has already produced pallet wraps for launches into cash and carry outlets together with sales literature to support extensive sampling activity and key exhibition appearances like the recent Convenience retailing Show at the NEC, Birmingham.

Retail PoS is currently being developed with the emphasis on new and attention gaining visuals. Existing American style PoS and FSDU's are currently being adapted and trialed following a fact finding visit to the UK by key VIVA executives.During the visit they met with cash and carry outlets and retailers to define the kind of support required for the product.

Commenting on the business gain, PrintCentre UK's Director of UK Operations, Simon Rigby, said they were delighted to be working with the brand.

"VIVA are hungry for new ideas to promote Quick Energy TM - challenges our cardboard engineers are lapping up and retailers should be knocked out by."

there has been a distinct advantage having been involved since the beginning of the product launch here in the UK. We are working with VIVA on making new ideas for in-store displays work from a manufacturing, as well as a sales generating and display perspective."

Quick Energy TM is a blend of B-Vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants that has been developed to improve energy and alertness. It does not contain any sugar or herbal stimulants and has just 5 calories per bottle.

According to AC Nielsen, US sales of energy shots in convenience stores tripled from approximately ÂŁ3m per month in 2007 to more than ÂŁ12m per month in the same period the following year.
